Kate Brimer

Online Engagement Coordinator, Advancement Services, Central Services

My position includes…

coordinating and building hundreds of emails to UT alumni, donors and friends; maintaining alumni and development websites; managing crowdfunding platforms for two campuses; and training iModules administrators across the UT System.

To understand what I do, you must understand…

how to think strategically and ask questions from the perspective of alumni and donors. It certainly doesn’t hurt to understand the mechanics of iModules and best practices for email marketing.

I advance the mission of the university by…

developing and implementing digital strategy for advancement offices across the UT System all in the spirit of fundraising, efficiency, engagement and advocacy.

As a kid I wanted to be…

an interior designer. But a crush on the editor of my high school newspaper led me to pursue journalism.

If I was gifted with a secret power, it would be…

teleportation so I could easily see my far-flung family and friends.

My bucket list includes…

being a librarian! Plus, making literary pilgrimages to Bath, England (Jane Austen), and Prince Edward Island (Lucy Maud Montgomery). I visited Orchard House, the home of Louisa May Alcott, in February 2020.

My personal motto is…

“You should not bring more items and hurdles to the obstacle course.” –Anne Lamott

My theme song is…

“Dreams” by The Cranberries

The best piece of advice I ever received was…

Keep a list of your personal/professional wins in real time so you’re never at a loss when you reflect on the past year. You’ll be amazed by what you forgot and by what you achieved.

Few know that I…

read 70 books in 2019.
