Objective #
To fulfill its mission and achieve goals and objectives, the University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc. (UTFI) retains the right to reassign employees to positions without a formal search process.
Policy #
No staff member should be approached directly about any opportunity until the current supervisor has been contacted and agrees to the reassignment.
Requests for reassignment must be made through a request to UTFI Office of Talent Management (UTFI TM) prior to any employee being approached about the opportunity. Refer to TM0014D Reassignment Procedure for specifics of request.
Current UTFI employees may be reassigned to positions subject to the following:
- Reassignments within an immediate unit may be managed as a reorganization of resources without an internal notice to be advertised.
- If an opportunity exists with no unit staff eligible to fill or lacking interest, and a pool of eligible staff exists within the Foundation, a vacant position may be advertised to internal staff of UTFI for a minimum of seven (7) days prior to being advertised externally should an internal staff not be identified. Staff must inform the current supervisor of plans/desire to apply. With permission, staff may apply as directed in the announcement.
- The resulting vacancy of the reassigned employee will be posted externally should it be operationally necessary to achieve goals and objects.
Scope and Application #
This policy applies to all current UTFI employees, including full-time staff and part-time staff for the organization.
Policy Implementation #
Requests for reassignment must be made through a request to UTFI TM prior to an employee being approached about the Opportunity. Refer to TM0014D Reassignment Procedure for specifics of request.
Penalties/Disciplinary Action for Non-Compliance #
Violations of the policy and any subsections herein may be cause for disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
