Frequently Asked Questions
2025 Giving Summaries
We know donor giving summaries can raise a few common questions each year, so we’ve gathered helpful answers to make reviewing 2025 giving information as simple as possible.
How will calendar year 2025 giving summaries be delivered?
If the primary member of a household has a valid, deliverable email address, the household will receive an emailed giving summary via Salesforce Marketing Cloud. If no member of the household has a deliverable email address, a printed summary can be requested from the Department of Constituent Management at (865) 974-0381.
How is this different from the calendar year 2024 giving summary process?
The calendar year 2024 giving summaries were delivered by mail rather than email. We’re excited to reintroduce emailed giving summaries for the majority of donors.
When will giving summaries be distributed?
We anticipate delivering emailed summaries via Salesforce Marketing Cloud by Friday, January 30, 2026.
Who will receive a giving summary?
A single giving summary will be sent per household with eligible giving. Exceptions include:
- Households with non-charitable only (e.g. athletics) will not receive a summary unless combined with charitable giving.
- Households with 4-H only giving will not receive summaries unless combined with other eligible charitable giving.
- Gifts made through IRAs, donor-advised funds or other financial institutions are not included in giving summaries. The official tax documentation for those contributions will be provided by the issuing financial institution.
- Organizations will not receive summaries
Is there a minimum giving threshold for receiving a summary?
There is no minimum giving threshold for summaries.
Will households giving to multiple campuses receive multiple summaries?
No. In the case of multi-campus charitable giving, a single summary with UT System branding will be sent by email or mail. If the household gave to a single campus, the summary will contain branding elements specific to that campus.
Will giving totals be combined or broken down by campus in giving summaries?
Campus-level breakdown of giving is not included in this year’s summaries. Summaries will include a combined charitable contribution total, with academic and athletic line items, if applicable. A separate non-charitable athletic contribution total will be included, if applicable.
Will spouses in the same household receive individual giving summaries?
No. A single giving summary is being sent per household. If the household includes spouses, the giving summary will be addressed jointly to both spouses and include all giving between spouses. It will be sent to the preferred email for the primary member of the household.
If no one in the household has a valid email address, upon request one household giving summary will be mailed the preferred address of the primary member of the household.
Will every household have a PDF giving summary generated, even if their summary is emailed?
Yes. The process will generate a PDF for all households with eligible giving. The PDF will be stored and can be regenerated upon request as needed. Please call Constituent Management at (865) 974-0381.
How will questions from donors or campuses be handled?
